I am a highly trained and qualified psychotherapist and counsellor working with people who have a wide range of mental health concerns including trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, chronic pain, grief, thoughts of suicide, addiction. My approach both outside in nature and indoors is person centered and pluralistic. A pluralistic approach believes that there are many ways of seeing the world and many possible ways to help a client work through their problems. Some of the modalities I work with are EMDR, Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Process Oriented Psychology; I also incorporate Mindfulness where it is appropriate and create space for the spiritual aspects of ourselves to be present in therapy. We will always decide together where we focus and how we work.
The connection between you and I is one of the most important tools that we have in therapy and I will spend time getting to know you, and getting a deep understanding of how you are feeling and what is going on in your life. I will always try to create an environment where you feel safe and comfortable to tell me whether or not they are happy with the way we are working.
I have called my work as a therapist Wild Belonging because I wish to recognise and help give voice to the wild and joyful child who exists in each of us. It took me more than 30 years to appreciate and understand the beautiful healing gift that nature offers freely to each one of us. When I look back now I see myself as a child haphazardly digging a vegetable patch, dreaming of running away to live in the woods and wishing the sky would notice me...Nature has always been in us but I guess as grown-ups it's easy to forget. Whatever your concerns we will walk with them together.
